Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 9, 2026
This policy explains what Dear Scrapbook (https://www.dearscrapbook.com) collects, why, and the choices you have.
What we collect
- Account data — username, email address and a hashed password (we never store plain-text passwords).
- Content — the scrapbooks, photos, videos and notes you create. They are private to your account.
- Security data — one-time verification codes, and the IP address and approximate country at signup (used for fraud prevention and aggregate location statistics).
- Payment data — when you buy a plan through PayPal we receive your payer email, the product and amount. Card and bank details never touch our servers.
- Usage basics — standard server logs (IP, browser, pages) kept briefly for security and debugging.
How we use it
- To operate your account, store your scrapbooks and enforce plan limits.
- To send verification and two-factor login codes, and important service emails.
- To communicate with you at your registered email address — this includes essential account, security and billing messages, and occasional updates about the service, new features or your plan. You can opt out of non-essential updates at any time by emailing support@dearscrapbook.com; essential account and security emails are part of running your account.
- To link your PayPal purchase to your account and activate benefits.
- To show advertising on ad-supported plans (see Cookies below).
We do not sell your personal data.
Business operations, improvement & legitimate interests
In the ordinary course of operating and advancing the service, and in reliance on our legitimate business interests, we may also process account, usage and related information for a range of complementary purposes. These include, without limitation: analysing engagement, performance and aggregate trends to inform product research, development and service improvement; deriving insights that help us understand our audience and tailor, personalise and measure communications and marketing relating to Dear Scrapbook and associated offerings; and supporting internal governance, planning, quality, risk, security, fraud-prevention and compliance activities in accordance with our internal policies and applicable frameworks. Where we rely on legitimate interests, we endeavour to do so in a manner that is proportionate and consistent with your reasonable expectations, and you may contact us to learn more about, or to object to, any specific processing described here.
Cookies & advertising
We use essential cookies to keep you logged in. With your consent, Google AdSense may set advertising cookies to show ads on free and Premium plans; you can choose “Essential only” in the cookie banner, and ad-free plans remove ads entirely. See the Cookie Policy for details.
Sharing
- Payment processing: PayPal (their privacy policy applies to the checkout).
- Advertising: Google AdSense on ad-supported plans, only after consent.
- Infrastructure: hosted on secure servers located in the EU and North American region.
- Authorities, only where the law requires it.
Retention
- Free-plan scrapbooks are automatically deleted 14 days after creation (10-day life + 4-day grace).
- Media removed from a scrapbook is deleted from our storage.
- Account data is kept until you delete your account. Deletion has a 24-hour grace period — logging back in within 24 hours cancels it; after that your profile, scrapbooks, media and details are permanently erased and any subscription is cancelled.
- Verification and login codes expire within minutes.
